Because at it’s most fundamental, any really good design, be it for a phone a garden or a kettle, must be both practical and pleasing to the eye.
Garden designers need to understand all about proportion, scale, context and how a garden plan works in it’s three dimensional form.
They must also understand all about materials that are to be used in a garden, such as paving, I’m rather obsessive about this and love collecting samples of new products, because it’s so satisfying when you get exactly the right material for a particular garden and the client is happy.
And of course fantastic plant knowledge including experience of how they all grow and work together is essential.
oh…. and most importantly, good at communicating with clients and interpreting their ideas.
But back to the bulb, which is designed by plumen.
I came across it at the Ecobuild exhibition in London yesterday, so not only does it fulfil these fundamental design principles, it’s also low energy….. perfect!
P.S. I was going to talk about a light-bulb moment or make some link to daffodil bulbs, but I know you’re much too sophisticated for that kind of stuff, right …?
