After blogging about the progress of Andrew Wilson and Gavin McWilliam’s show garden for the past 10 weeks, the Chelsea Flower Show week has finally arrived and their garden was unveiled.
What a transformation, from this rather scruffy patch of land just a few days ago
to this beautiful space:
Here’s Gavin doing a bit of tweaking before the judges came round:
The two different types of wall are a great backdrop for all the plants, and it was a bonus to see the apple trees in blossom.
The garden was awarded a silver-gilt medal, a great achievement, I’m surprised it wasn’t a gold. It’s a lovely design, gorgeous planting and such attention to detail, but as Andrew said “There are no guarantees” and they have a garden to be very proud of.
It was of course a team effort, this is Gavin and Andrew with Dan Flynn (in the middle) who constructed the garden:
The plants were perfect.
The section of polished concrete cantilevering over the flowing stream, with boulders looking like they’d been there forever.
You can see previous posts about the progress of the garden here
It is a wonderful garden, I hope you mange to see it at the Show.
