Take a seat and enjoy the garden

July 30, 2012 By Jill Anderson Leave a Comment

However much you enjoy gardening, at this time of year it’s even nicer to make the time to sit in it and relax as well.

Having seats and benches permanantly in place around the garden is the best way to encourage you to do this.

If you have to find the keys to the shed and haul the chairs out into the garden, you probably won’t get round to it, and if you’ve only got ten minutes for a quick cup of coffee outside you definately won’t.

Ideally it’s nice to have a table and chairs near the house and a bench or two tucked away in another part of the garden, especially if there’s a view of part of the garden that you don’t see from the house.

Try and match the style of the furniture to that of your garden, this one’s just right for a contemporary garden.

I like the idea of sitting with a cup of tea in this greenhouse, especially if it’s wet or chilly outside.

I love this table with edible plants down the middle, you could pick fresh herbs for your meal… but not so easy to chat to the people opposite.

This matching pair fit so well into this garden, all very traditional and perfectly balanced.

The top of a wall makes a nice place to perch in this garden designed by Cleve West.

These contemporary style chairs are made from recycled plastic bottles.

My top tip is to have scented plants near your seats, this is Viburnum Carlessi, which has beautifuly sweet scented flowers in early summer.

Hope this inspires you to put your feet up and sit and enjoy your garden.
