This Courtyard Garden in Battersea, South London was overlooked on three sides by tall buildings and was devoid of plants and rarely used. Jill’s design flair transformed this compact space into an enjoyable, usable space to relax.
- To create an attractive garden with low maintenance plants.
- Screening from the surrounding buildings so that he could relax outside and enjoy barbeques with friends.
The feeling of seclusion was created with a timber pergola covered in scented climbing plants, screening the seating area below. A mirror on the wall reflects light into the area and gives the illusion of a bit more space. Raised planting borders were painted to match the kitchen interior creating a strong link between house and garden and were filled with seasonal plants, flowers and bulbs.
The sheltered seating area providing somewhere to unwind after a busy day. When you live in a city, just a small number of plants and a little privacy is balm for the soul.
