Growing Nicely is the result of 30 years of growing, designing, teaching & writing about plants and gardens.
Planting Design comprises a complete overhaul of the plants in your whole garden, or part of it. Either way, it’s about creating a pleasing composition of plants that look great together, creating a good blend of structure, colour & scent to extend the gardens’ vitality & interest through all the seasons.
- You may have moved & inherited a garden with a tired selection of plants.
- Plants that don’t enhance the garden, or are too big for the space, can be replaced with more appropriate, harder working ones.
- I can advise about editing, replanting or replacing containers to improve seating areas & the entrance to your garden.
- Carefully selected shrubs, perennials, bulbs, topiary, herbs & trees are all considered to make a new picture of your garden.
We’ll start with a visit for you to show me your garden, what you like & don’t like about it, how you use it & how you’d like it to look. I’ll assess the soil & general conditions in the garden & we’ll discuss how you’d like your garden to look, the colours & style you like.
An underlying structure of shrubs & topiary with highlights of seasonal flowers, textural grasses, spring bulbs & herbs always works well. There’s always an emphasis on sustainability, attracting, birds & wildlife, natural predators iron the garden for an easy balance.
Using this information I’ll draw up a scaled planting plan, detailing the new plants. A year round maintenance plan can also be included, to make life easier.
The cost depends on the size of the garden & the scope of the work. I live in Surrey & usually work within a 25 mile radius, but I’m happy to travel further. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
