I love seeing sculpture in gardens, it’s a permanent feature that adds another layer of interest to a garden,
but the stumbling block is that it can be very expensive and exactly how do you fit it into a garden?
It would be easy to spend a lot, but there are ways round this, and finding the right spot isn’t too tricky either.
- position at the end of a vista/view
- a path or at a junction works just as well
- placing any sculpture or urn on a plinth makes a bit more of a statement.
Wire or willow looks less formal
though willow isn’t as long lasting as metal.
Potted plants can be just as effective as sculpture.
Garden shows like the Chelsea Flower Show are great places to go for ideas, have a look here for information about R.H.S. Shows
and the Hannah Pershar Sculpture garden is a very inspiring place to visit.
I haven’t got round to putting any in my garden and now that we’ll be moving house the idea has been shelved, but I plan to have some in the new garden, in some form or other.
