One of my favourite pastimes is visiting gardens, no surprise there probably, but as the days are getting shorter I’m determined to get some more garden visits in before many of them close for winter.
Uppark garden, has been on my list for ages and last week I finally got there, it’s a glorious place surrounding a beautiful 18th century house, near Petersfield, West Sussex.
There are some very, pretty borders
It’s useful to see what looks good at this time of year and borrow ideas for your own garden, I always take my camera and a notebook to jot down:
- plant varieties that catch my eye
- what plants look good together
- styles of fencing and plant supports
I like the woven fence behind these sunflowers
and the wooden tripods for the sweet peas, these are Cupani and smell divine.
There’s an area of woodland to explore, places to picnic or you could have tea and cake in their restaurant:
Check the Uppark website for visitor information.
If you’re looking for plant ideas, here’s a recent post about Japanese anemones, they look wonderful at this time of year and flower for weeks.
Happy gardening.
