We moved here over 2 years ago, & one of the attractions was the flat, sunny garden with just about enough space for everything we need.
I designed the garden to solve a specific problem of minor flooding in one area after heavy rain. It also includes 6 raised vegetable beds, a greenhouse & a place to sit & enjoy it all, this last bit is very important. Now it has a good lay-out, plants that grow well in the conditions, & a reasonable injection of colour & scent for much of the year.
Much as I love my garden & gardening, I want to spend as much time as I can relaxing & enjoying it, & not too long tending to it. In other words, I don’t want to be a slave to it with a constant list of chores to complete.
A lot of people ask me how to do this in their garden & how to deal with specific issues:
“ What plants will grow well & look good in my garden? ”
“ Our garden doesn’t look right, but I don’t know what changes to make? ”
“ I need some garden design ideas ”
“ Can I grow vegetables & herbs in my garden? ”
“ How can I spend less time working in the garden, there’s always so much to do? “
If you’d like some advice and direction about how to improve your garden, whether you’re a beginner or experienced gardener we can get together for a one to one session lasting up to 2 hours. You can tell me about the specific challenges you have with your garden & get some practical advice about how to deal with them.
I trained in horticulture and garden design at Merrist Wood College near Guildford 25 years ago. I’ve been a professional gardener, designed many gardens, including 2 show gardens for the R.H.S. at Hampton Court Flower Show. As well as being a garden designer, I taught beginner gardening at evening classes and planting design to garden designers, & co-authored a book about Planting Design. So I reckon you’re in a safe pair of hands.
Please contact me at email@example.com to arrange an appointment. The cost is £175 for up to 2 hours, within a 15 mile radius of Guildford, Surrey, U.K.
This works for a medium sized garden, measuring about 20 x 8 metres. Please contact me for the cost of a visit, if your garden is bigger than than this, or you live further away.
After booking you can send a couple of photos of your garden & the challenges you have, & I’ll give it some thought before the visit. I’ll also bring a relevant plant-list & general tips about how to look after your garden, & help you with those specific garden issues.
I look forward to hearing from you.
