The Floral Marquee at The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is a wonderful sight, I only wish I could share the scent too.
It’s choc full of specialist nurseries and is a great place to seek out new types of plants and unusual varieties, I think it’s rather nice to a few plants in your garden that are a bit different.
I’ve always had as soft spot for Pelargoniums, they’re often mistakenly known as geraniums. There was a lovely stand belonging to Fir Tree Pelargonium Nursery, based in Stokesley near Middlesborough.
These beauties are tender perennials, so in this country need to be kept over the winter in a heated greenhouse or on a sunny windowsill.
They look wonderful in containers and are a very refreshing change from the usual bright red and white ones we usually see.
The good news is that the nursery has a mail-order service, so check out their website here if you can’t get to the Show.
Congratulations to the Nursery for their award of an RHS Gold Medal for their display.
