Isn’t this the prettiest plant combination, it has colour, texture and a nice selection of shapes to compliment each other, all perfect for a sunny border.
Erigeron karvinskianus
is the little daisy at the front, low growing it looks good at the front of the border, but also works well cascading over walls and will even grow in little crevices in walls and steps.
It’s happiest in well drained soil, so add grit to the planting hole if necessary, it flowers from June to October.
30cm wide x 80cm high.
Alchemilla mollis
is a really useful plant, as well as being pretty the lime green flower sprays are good for cutting and manage to look good with any flower colour.
It prefers rich, well drained soil in sun or part-shade, flowers from June to September.
60cm high x 75cm wide.
Gaura lindheimeri:
this has a lovely airy shape with white starry flowers held lightly on its’ stems.
Grow it in well drained soil in full sun, it flowers for ages, all the way through May – September.
1 metre high x 80cm wide.
Stipa tenuissima:
at the back of the border, is one of my favourite grasses. It fits in well with many plant combinations and has a lovely wafting movement, producing tiny dark brown flowers at the end of its’ stems from May to September.
It needs well-drained soil and plenty of sun.
1 metre high x 30cm wide.
Happy gardening
